Celebrating Juneteenth and Poor People’s Day 2012!!

June 19, 2012

For “Poor People’s Day this year, I was asked to join in and do some art work with the children of the community on June 16th, 2012. They brought the supplies and I brought some imagination. HAAAA! Check the info! FANGGG!!

Every year, Project South remembers and celebrates Juneteenth as a major membership gathering. All members– past, present, and future– are warmly invited to join us in honoring the history of Black liberation and freedom struggles worldwide. Bring your friends, your family, your coworkers, or a date–we want to see the whole Project South family there!

This year, Project South also joins the Hunger Coalition to co-host their annual Poor People’s Day.  The day will start at 10a with workshops led by Hunger Coalition and Project South staff and volunteers. Workshops will end at 12p, and everyone will be invited to participate in a “Unity in the Community” Festival, with a DJ, food, kids activities, an Open Mic, and a community Mural project led by local artist Craig Singleton.
